Interview with Marion Uckert
Marion is a very good example for how our colleagues can develop at Rivada Space Networks. She started her career as a translator for Arabic and English after her graduation from university. Today, she organizes the whole program team, which is the largest department.
Marion brings more than 25 years of experience in international environments. During her career, she has worked in both well-established companies and start-ups. Her superpower: organizing large teams and teaching them processes so they can perform at their best level.
Marion never thought that she would work in a satellite company. She actively dealt with space for the first time when she was 15 and preparing for her exam in astronomy at school. Space and stars were fascinating but far away.
Head of Project Management Office
What’s your role at Rivada Space Networks?
I am Head of the PMO, the Project Management Office. I am supporting our program teams and our industrial partners on our joint road to success. I am the person in the program team who holds all the strings in her hands. I organize and manage meetings, coordinate the actions items and deadlines, compile and distribute documents and I'm the first point of contact for questions from our industrial partners.
What motivates you in your daily work?
Definitely the team. I have the great pleasure to work with brilliant brains from all over the globe, space enthusiasts who put all their energy into the project. It energizes me every day to see all these specialists working so smoothly together within the very challenging framework of our unique project which nobody ever did before.
You're a prime example of
a career changer. How did this happen?
I have always enjoyed bringing people together. During my career, I have organized teams, events, offices and so much more. I love coordination, communication, and collaboration. Project Management feels like coming home. Of course, I had to learn a lot about the specifics of satellite projects. In the beginning, I was completely lost in the special language of our engineers. I did a deep dive training in satellite communication, and I have very nice and experienced colleagues who are very supportive.
