Interview with Paul Tucker

How does it feel to have worked for years at large corporations and then take up employment at a start-up?

Paul Tucker has a Master's degree in Aerospace Systems and subsequently became a Young Graduate Trainee at ESA helping to establish their Current Design Facility. Afterwards, he worked at Airbus and OHB before joining Rivada Space Networks.

The cultural shock, however, was limited.

Space Segment Technical Manager,
Program Team

What’s your job at Rivada Space Networks?

I'm working as the Space Segment Technical Manager. I coordinate the program team responsible for ensuring the Space Segment Prime contractor(s) provide the capabilities and performance needed to provide the Rivada Space Network services. We will also work hard to ensure that quality and on-time deployment of the system is maintained.

How do you feel about the start-up culture at Rivada?

I worked many years in the Space Industry at several big companies, which was also very interesting and sometimes exciting. At Rivada, we are injecting the energy and adaptability of a start-up into a huge system development activity. You can feel that the team is highly motivated and willing to support each other on this new adventure.

What’s currently the biggest challenge for you?

The biggest challenge for me is the acceleration needed by the whole team to get to full speed, finding a way to work and communicate together. I really enjoy working with everyone to find the right path for the team and project.

Pushing boundaries is always difficult, but exciting and great fun if we all work together.
